The feast of Our Lady of Seven Sorrows is a holiday since Pope Paul VI declared in 1966 that the Virgin was the patron saint of the country. Slovakia and the Catholic Church commemorate it on 15 September. Its first mention dates back to 1412. His whole life is full of unexpected and painful events. The number seven in the biblical sense means fullness. Yet, tradition speaks of the seven concrete pains that Mary experienced in her life.
