Timetable

French Guiana is not renowned for its exciting nightlife. There are, however, a few bars and even restaurants offering special evenings of dance... Often Latin-inspired! Live music generally starts in the early evening. Cayenne also has a number of nightclubs, generally open on Fridays and Saturdays from 11pm to 5am.

And for shows, concerts or dancing, the two main venues are the Salle polyvalente Zéphyr in Cayenne, and the Théâtre de l'Entonnoir in Macouria. Check their program online.

Budget & Tips

Expect to pay around €15 to get into one of Cayenne's clubs. A drink is usually included at this price.

Night transport

It's not always easy to find a cab on your way out of a club in Cayenne. It's best to plan ahead: either have your own vehicle, or agree with a cab to pick you up at a specific time.

Age restrictions

In French Guiana, as in mainland France, the legal drinking age is 18. This means you generally have to be over 18 to go clubbing in Cayenne. Some establishments do not accept anyone under the age of 25. Don't forget your papers!

What's very local

It's a good idea to dress appropriately when you go out dancing... otherwise you'll stand out from the crowd.

Smokers

Smoking is prohibited in clubs and entertainment venues in French Guiana. Where the establishment has a terrace, smokers may be allowed to consume tobacco there.
