CARNAVAL DE GUYANE

It's the biggest celebration of the Guyanese department: masked balls, sensational parades and dancing until you're exhausted!
Carnival is the major event in French Guiana: every year, between January and March, with parades every Sunday, it plunges the towns of Cayenne, Kourou and Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni into a long celebration, both during the day and in the evening. The festivities can sometimes last for months! Don't rely too much on the administration during this period: the city beats to the rhythm of the drums and parades, and employees are usually on vacation or on reduced duty. The high point of the festivities is the masked balls, when the touloulous are the queens!
