With a crown of flowers on their heads, Swedes celebrate the arrival of summer in style with friends and family.

Midsummer's Day is celebrated on 24 June. In Sweden, the festival is organized in two parts: on Saturday it is Midsommarafton (New Year's Eve), where Swedes usually go to the countryside, build a traditional flagpole and finish by swimming in lakes or rivers. In the city, it's a huge party in the parks if the weather is good. The next day is Midsommardagen, which is usually celebrated with the family over a Swedish-style buffet, or in Skansen with traditional dancing and singing.
