Army Day is also the day that celebrates the Great Arab Revolt of 1916, which led to the fall of the Ottoman Empire.

June 10, 1916 marked the beginning of the Great Arab Revolt (1916-1918), when the Sherif of Mecca, Hussein ibn Ali, launched a wave of rebellion to liberate the Arabian Peninsula from Ottoman domination, thus becoming the first figure of pan-Arabism. Abdullah I, the first king of Jordan, is his son. Although this key date in Jordanian history is celebrated every year, it is not a public holiday. The King of Jordan participates in a military parade held in Amman to commemorate the event.
