The last break of the Ramadan fast is an opportunity to make amends for all one's sins and to feast for a whole night.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan and the final breaking of the fast. Practitioners who have observed the month of fasting are forgiven for the sins committed during the past year. The year can begin as virtuously as possible and under good auspices. One of the most vibrant holidays in the Muslim calendar, Eid-ul-Fitr is experienced as a time of sharing and charity: families go to feast and eat mansaf, children receive gifts and it is customary to make donations to the needy.
