Stores are generally open from 9am to 5pm, or even 6pm in large cities or tourist areas. Night falls quickly in the tropics: after 6pm, you will only have to go to the shopping malls which stay open until 8:30pm.
Stores are often open on Saturdays until 1pm, some until 5pm. And on Sundays, they are generally closed.
In Martinique, the summer sales take place in October. On the other hand, the winter sales take place on the same dates as in mainland France, from early January to early February. It is mainly clothing and shoe stores that sell.
Avoid haggling: this practice is very little used in Martinique, and is even frowned upon. The only exception is on the markets.
When a product is "made in Martinique", whether it is a jewel, a fruit or a spice, do not hesitate to ask for details on the exact origin. There may be some mistakes in terms of product traceability.
