The Ghan is a mythical train that runs from Adelaide to Darwin in 3 or 4 days. Its name honors the Afghan camel drivers who played an essential role in the first central crossings of Australia, as well as in the construction of the telegraph line. This is a luxurious tourist train with stops in Alice Springs, Katherine and a stop in the middle of the desert. Take your time and add experiences along the way. Allow around AU$1,500 for the Adelaide - Alice Springs journey and around AU$3,000 to Darwin.
