Time difference Canada
The second largest country in the world, Canada has six time zones: Pacific, Rocky Mountain, Central, Eastern, Atlantic and Newfoundland. While each time zone is one hour apart, only 30 minutes separate the Atlantic and Newfoundland time zones. For example, when it is noon in France, it is 3:00 a.m. in Vancouver, 4:00 a.m. in Calgary, 5:00 a.m. in Winnipeg, 6:00 a.m. in Montreal, 7:00 a.m. in Halifax and 7:30 a.m. in St. John's. Please note that the time change in the fall and spring is not the same as in France, and some areas of Canada remain on standard time year round.
Opening hours Canada
To see / To do Canada
A distinction must be made here between urban centers and regions. In the cities, the points of interest are generally open all year round, with limited opening hours outside of the summer season (e.g.: closed on Mondays). In the regions, they are often seasonal, with an opening period that goes from May to October. If they are open every day in the summer, the schedule is often reduced from Patriots' Day or Victoria Day (the Monday before May 25) to June 24 and from Labor Day (the first Monday in September) to Thanksgiving (thesecond Monday in October).
Enjoying yourself Canada
There is no schedule more variable than the restaurant business. Not only do they vary by season, but they also vary several times during the same season. Restaurants in major cities tend to have relatively fixed hours throughout the year, while in the regions some establishments even close their doors out of season. And like everywhere, weekends and holidays are very busy, especially for the famous brunch served until 2 or 3 pm. It is also important to know that Canadians eat earlier than Europeans. Therefore, the opening hours of the kitchens are not very late, except for the pub type restaurants or those in the most trendy and/or touristy areas.
Take a break Canada
Gourmet shops (bakeries, patisseries, etc.), cafés and tearooms are generally open every day, from morning until mid- or late afternoon (some may be open into the evening, especially cafés). However, there may be some days off in smaller shops or in the regions, usually at the beginning of the week. Opening hours can also be reduced out of season. As for bars, many open as early as 11 a.m. or noon, especially in the city. Otherwise, you can expect them to open mid to late afternoon at the latest. Closing time is generally set at 2am maximum (3am in Quebec), but some close earlier (midnight or 1am) at the start of the week or out of season. Although they tend to be open 7 days a week, some may close on certain days (e.g. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday), especially in regional areas.
(To) please yourself Canada
Opening hours may vary from one establishment to another, but in general they open in the morning between 9 and 11 am and close between 6 and 9 pm. On Sundays, hours are often limited (12:00 to 5:00 or 6:00). Opening hours may vary from city to city and are often reduced in the off-season, and sometimes the establishments are even closed (although it is usually possible to make an appointment). In cities and small towns, there may also be closing days, mostly on Sunday and/or Monday. Regardless of the season, most businesses are open 7 days a week in the larger cities.
Get out Canada
Mostly located in the city, nightclubs are generally open on Fridays and Saturdays (and other nights depending on the club) from 10pm to 3am or even later. For activities with friends (movies, billiards, bowling, karting, escape games, etc.), the hours vary greatly depending on the type of establishment. There are also casinos in Canada that offer extended hours and even 24-hour operation. For the performing arts (music, comedy, theater, etc.), the annual programming is mostly concentrated outside of the summer season, in the evening most of the time.
