Practical information : Going out Barbados
Timetable
Entertainment starts relatively early in Barbados (between 6 and 7 pm).
Nightlife is centered around St. Lawrence Gap, Holetown and Bay Street in Bridgetown. Bars generally open around 11am, and some only from mid-afternoon.Happy hour is usually between 5pm and 7pm. Some establishments even have two (in the early afternoon and shortly before closing time).
Nightclubs are generally open from Thursday to Saturday, from 8-10pm until 3am or 4am.
Budget & Tips
For nightclubs, the entrance fee is 25 BBD. In some cases, ladies are entitled to a reduced price. Cards are widely accepted, but be sure to bring some cash for tips, if necessary (staff, security...).
To be booked
Reservations aren't especially necessary, unless you're planning to attend a concert with paid admission, want VIP treatment at a nightclub or for the Harbour Lights dinner show.
Night transport
There are no night buses, so you'll have to use a cab (ask at the bar if you don't have a number handy) if your accommodation isn't nearby, or a VTC with the PickUP app.
Age restrictions
Access to nightclubs and the consumption of alcohol are strictly reserved for adults (18 years and over).
What's very local
If you had to use a general dress code for your evenings out in Barbados, it would be that of casual elegance. While Bajans love to dress up, don't forget the warm temperatures, even at night. So opt for light, comfortable clothing in breathable fabrics such as linen or cotton. Choose shoes that are elegant yet practical, and avoid flip-flops, which are reserved for the beach.
Even so, it's a good idea to check whether certain restaurants or parties have a special dress code. Check the establishment's website or contact them directly to find out.
Smokers
Smoking is prohibited in bars and enclosed areas.
