A colorful festival celebrating Garifuna settlement in the Stann Creek district in the century.
Every November 19, this colorful festival commemorates the settlement of the Garifunas in the Stann Creek district. Celebrated mainly in the southern districts of the country, the main activity is the re-enactment of their disembarkation by boat from St. Vincent, in the eastern Caribbean. Cultural and religious activities and parades are also organized throughout the day.
Around this time, Punta Gorda hosts the Battle of Drums, a percussion competition celebrating Garifuna music.
