The commemoration of the naval battle of St. George's Caye in 1798 is the occasion for numerous festivities throughout the country.

This national holiday commemorates the naval battle of St. George's Caye, fought on September 10, 1798 by the inhabitants of the British colony against the Spanish. The inhabitants emerged victorious from the confrontation, and Spain never again attempted to conquer the territory. Today, the date is celebrated with parades, official ceremonies and street festivals featuring concerts, culinary events and battle re-enactments. Not to be missed!
