Budget & Tips
Diving in Fiji is a must-do activity, available on all the islands. Those not tempted by diving can go snorkeling. Snorkeling can be free if you use your own equipment or that of your resort, and go off on your own to see the marine life. Otherwise, dive centers often offer snorkeling trips in addition to diving, which are generally less expensive.
Massages are available everywhere in Fiji. You may have the opportunity to try the " bobo ", the traditional Fijian massage where the elbow and thumb are used to massage the body coated with coconut oil. It can be quite sporty as a result. In terms of price ranges, this will often depend on the standing of the establishment, but in principle it will remain cheaper than in France. In some places, it's also possible to have a massage right on the beach.
Sunset on the beach will be a classic of your trip to Fiji.
Free activities : most resorts offer kayaks and paddles free of charge. It makes for a great excursion! Just be sure to check the times at which you can leave, depending on the tide, to avoid damaging the reefs and coral.
Fiji'sgolf courses are of the highest quality, and you'll find them in Nadi (Port Denarau), Pacific Harbour and Taveuni. Tennis courts are often close by.
Surfing and water sports can also be part of your program, as Fiji offers a wide range of these activities.
What's very local
In the evening, Fijians often get together to drink kava. An interesting experience to share with them, especially if you're staying in a village or town with Fijians.
Rugby matches are another highlight of Fijian social life.
Your documents please
As a general rule, you must present your diving certificate before diving. Currents are strong in some places, so we recommend that you exercise extreme caution if you haven't dived for some time.
To be booked
For diving, you have the option of booking your entire stay, including dives, accommodation and meals, in advance, or going directly to the dive site. Even in the latter case, it's advisable to contact the establishments before you leave for Fiji to make sure you'll have a place.
Main events
Fiji's calendar is strongly marked by the festivals of the island's different religions (Islam, Hinduism and Christianity). Sailing enthusiasts can look forward to the annual Fiji Regatta Week in September. The 2024 edition will be held at Musket Cove Island Resort, on the island of Malolo Lailai (in the Mamanucas).
