This festival originated in South India and takes place over two days, one week before Deepaveli. It celebrates the goddess Draupati Amman or Draupadi, incarnation of the goddess Mariamman. Theemithi is celebrated with great pomp at the Sri Mariamman temple. Believers can be seen walking on embers spread out in front of the temple over a length of 3 meters. However, this is just one of many festivities that take place during the two-month festival. It's a memorable experience, not to be missed.
