Day of celebration of the first peoples, traditionally known as the Amerindians, mainly in Port of Spain.
The week leading up to October 14th is a time to highlight the history and culture of Trinidad & Tobago's indigenous peoples. Originally called the Amerindians, since 1990 the first people to settle in Trinidad & Tobago have been celebrated as the First Peoples. They mark their "Heritage Week" celebrations with a series of events in Arima, Port of Spain and other community areas. Parades and events on the program.
