Timetable

Harare and Bulawayo, the two largest cities in the country, have a few museums and gardens (Museum of Human Sciences, National Botanical Garden, Natural History Museum, Railway Museum...). There are a few other museums and botanical gardens to visit in the country, especially in the Eastern Highlands. They are open every day, but their opening hours may vary depending on the site. Most of the time, they are open from 9am to 5pm.

In Harare, there are the offices of the Zimbawe Tourism Authority, which is responsible for promoting tourism in the country. On the spot, the staff is very helpful, but has little documentation. There are local tourist offices(Tourist/PublicityAssociations) in the major cities and tourist sites of the country (Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, Great Zimbabwe/Masvingo, Kariba...). The welcome is often warm and you can get a lot of practical information and brochures.

What's very local

Among the must-see historical sites in Zimbabwe are various rockpaintings scattered throughout the country. They are attributed to the Khoisan, hunter-gatherers who lived in the area a few thousand years ago. The paintings mostly represent hunting scenes. Near Harare, they can be found at the sites of Domboshava and Ngomokurira, but the most famous are found in the Matopos National Park, near Bulawayo.
