Practical information : Take a break Bahamas
Timetable
Many bars in the archipelago offer a happy hour that often lasts from 5 to 8 pm. This is an opportunity to discover the wide range of rum-based preparations that Bahamians and visitors alike are so fond of. Mondays and Tuesdays are the least festive days in general, except in very high season like Christmas for example.
Budget & Tips
Count about ten dollars for a cocktail, 5 US$ for a local beer and more than 12 US$ for a glass of wine in general. Be careful, the service is not included, don't forget the 15%!
Age restrictions
It is legal to consume alcohol from the age of 18 in the Bahamas. So if you look young, don't forget your ID before you go out.
What's very local
A small fresh Kalik at the end of the day and, why not, a good conch salad to accompany it, that's it, you've captured the spirit of the Bahamas!
Smokers
Most bars have a designated smoking area when smoking is not permitted inside, which is still rare.
Tourist traps
Beware of the tempting happy hours which often only concern local beers and alcohols without it necessarily being well specified on the map.
