Timetable
Museums are generally open from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday or Saturday. In the Out Islands, the opening hours are often more restrictive, so you will have to ask for information on the spot.
To be booked
All activities requiring a boat must of course be booked. It is often interesting to book on the website of the operators to get the best price.
Budget & Tips
The Bahamas is a relatively expensive destination. Good to know if you are considering a combined stay between several islands, the Out Islands of The Bahamas Promotional Association often offers special promotions and conditions to visit the Out Islands, the most authentic and most exotic of the archipelago.
One of the flagship programs is the 2 Fly Free program. Free tickets from Nassau to any of the Out Islands when staying at one of the partner hotels: 1 free ticket for a stay of 4 to 6 nights; 2 free tickets for a stay of 7 nights or more.
Main events
Junkanoo Festivals, sailing regattas, fishing competitions and culinary festivals are the main events not to be missed in the archipelago. Other highlights not to be missed are the royal ceremonies in Nassau. Four times a year in January, April, July and October, you can attend the opening of the Supreme Court at 10am. Every other Friday, the Changing of the Guard show is also worth a visit in front of the Government Palace. Finally, from January to November (except July-August), an unmissable tea party is held on the last Friday of each month at the Governor's Palace.
Guided tours
Rather than a professionally guided tour, you can discover the Bahamas under the guidance of a local volunteer through the free People to People program (www.bahamas.com/people-to-people). This program is open to all Bahamians who wish to share their knowledge of the area with visitors.
