Commemoration of Ho Chi Minh's proclamation of Vietnamese independence on 2 September 1945 in Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.
The proclamation of independence and foundation by Ho Chi Minh on 2 September 1945 in Ba Dinh Square, Hanoi, of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam is commemorated. In the streets, houses fly the Vietnamese flag, which colours the whole country red and gold. It is also the anniversary of Ho's death (September 2, 1969). For a long time, he was officially declared dead on September 3 in order not to mourn on National Day.
