On the night of the August full moon, a hundred of the country's museums and prestigious sites open their doors, sometimes with live music.
This festival (Αυγουστιάτικη Πανσέληνος/Avgoustiatiki Panselinos) features free events at around 100 prestigious sites on the evening of the August full moon (moving date) and in the nights leading up to it. Most are guided tours. Some sites also host concerts, such as the Acropolis in Athens, the Rotunda in Thessalonica, the Palace of Malia in Crete, the Archaeological Museum in Olympia... A different program is available each year on the Ministry of Culture website.
