The cafés are open continuously from 7:30 am and close around 7 pm. It is often possible to have a snack during the day. Ice cream shops open later in the morning, but close later as well, especially in the city centers where there are many strollers in the evening.
Count between 0,80 and 2 € for an espresso, between 2,50 and 5 € for a half beer and 2 € for a soda.
The consumption of alcohol is forbidden to people under 16 years old, as well as the sale. The alcohol content may not exceed 10°. From the age of 18, the consumption and purchase of any type of alcohol is possible. Therefore, access to a bar or nightclub is forbidden to under 16s.
Sardinians usually stop in cafés in the morning for a cappuccino - and only in the morning - and at any time of the day for a ristretto or an espresso. The cafes are mostly frequented by workers in the cities and by the elderly in the villages. The Sardinians do not disdain a small aperitif at passeggiata time either, preferably a mirto, a myrtle-based liqueur.
As in France, children are only allowed in drinking establishments when accompanied by an adult. They can go alone to a gelateria (ice cream shop) or a tea room.
It is forbidden to smoke in places open to the public. You must be outside to smoke.
