Money Sardinia
The currency used in Sardinia is the euro. There is therefore no exchange rate. Some banks charge a flat fee for withdrawals or payments abroad. Check with your bank before you leave to avoid unpleasant surprises.
Budget & Tips Sardinia
The standard of living in Sardinia is much the same as in France. A minimum of €40 per day per person is required if you stay in a simple hotel or campsite, with an outdoor meal and a few paid visits. For a comfortable hotel with swimming pool, a rental car and two outdoor meals, the budget per person starts at €130. For a seaside vacation in high season, a minimum of €170 per person per day is required. For luxury vacations, there's no limit. Porto Cervo is one of the most famous jet-set destinations in summer. From luxury hotels and private clubs to billionaires' yachts, anything is possible.
Passport and visas Sardinia
Sardinia is part of the European Union, and there are no special formalities to be noted when entering the country. You will, however, need to carry identification for checks at airports and ports of embarkation.
Driver's license Sardinia
If you're coming to Sardinia with your own vehicle, it's essential to have your driving license, vehicle papers and up-to-date insurance certificate.
Health Sardinia
Beware of entry requirements if you're traveling with your pet. Find out before you leave how your pet will be able to accompany you. At the very least, you'll need an up-to-date vaccination booklet, including a rabies vaccine that's less than a year old. Make sure that your place of residence is pet-friendly. Pets are not allowed in cabs, buses or restaurants.
Security Sardinia
Sardinia presents no particular security risks. However, it is advisable not to leave valuables in your car, and to lock it in all parking lots.
Time difference Sardinia
There is no time difference between France and Sardinia. The island switches to summer and winter time on the same day as France.
Spoken languages Sardinia
Sardinia recognizes two official languages: Italian and Sardinian. French is widely spoken at tourist sites, particularly in the north of the island, close to Corsica.
Communication Sardinia
Network problems are rare, but to be expected in the mountains. All hotels and campsites are now equipped with Internet access.
Electricity and measurements Sardinia
The electricity supply is 220 V and the plugs are the same as in France. You won't need an adapter for your shaver or hairdryer.
Luggage Sardinia
Sunscreen is a must in summer, whether you choose a vacation by the sea or in the mountains. A hat for protection during the hot hours, sunglasses and a swimsuit are also essential at all times in summer. You'll also need a good sweater in all seasons, as the wind frequently blows. If you're taking medication, be sure to bring your prescription in case it gets lost or damaged.
