Buddha's birthday is celebrated on the full moon of Vaishak. His enlightenment and passage to Nirvana are also celebrated.

It is the most important Buddhist festival, it marks the anniversary of the birth of Gautama Buddha. On the same day, commemoration of two other events in the life of Buddha: his awakening and his passage to Nirvana. This date falls on the full moon day of the month of Vaishak of the lunar calendar. It is called vesak in many countries of Southeast Asia. On this day the faithful recite the teachings of Buddha and share them with as many people as possible. In India, some Hindus believe that Buddha is one of the incarnations of Vishnu.
