Lord Krishna's birthday is a very popular Hindu festival marked by extravagant celebrations.
Gokulashtami, also known as Krishna Janmashtami, celebrates the birthday of Lord Krishna, and is one of the most popular Hindu festivals. All Vishnu temples in the country celebrate this event. In Mumbai, human pyramids are formed to reach a butter pot (dahi handi) that will be broken by and on the participants. The areas of Mumbai where the festival is most spectacular are Dadar, Lower Parel, Worli, Mazgaon and Thane.
