Timetable

It's well known that the English eat earlier and restaurants are often crowded by 6:30 pm, as soon as work is over. To guarantee yourself a table, come around 8:30 pm. And to really eat on English time: remember to make reservations. Restaurants are generally open every day, often close earlier on Sundays and are often fully booked on Sundays for sunday roast.

Budget & Tips

In a restaurant you can eat on average for 15 € in England, much more in a gastronomic restaurant, of course, and less in a fast food restaurant. You have very good kebabs in the street, not expensive, and fish and chips very affordable.

What costs extra

Unlike the United States, tipping is not the rule in the UK. However, there is nothing to stop you from leaving a few coins if you have been well served. You can ask for a free jug of water in the restaurant.

The local way

You have in England, and particularly in London, excellent Indian or Chinese restaurants. It's a change of scenery!

To be avoided

You can drink your cup of tea with your little finger raised or not, no one will take offense. You don't stare at your neighbor.

Kids

Some pubs accept minors as part of a family meal. Restaurants often offer children's menus, high chairs for the little ones, and even play and reading areas.

Smokers

Smoking is prohibited in restaurants and bars in England, as well as in all public places, including some areas in public parks.
