ARCHITEKTURMUSEUM
In the city centre, located in new premises since 2004, this architecture museum is a private foundation. The collections are structured around three axes: modern Swiss architecture, contemporary international architecture and finally the marginal regions of architecture. The museum interprets architecture in a very broad sense and studies, for example, the relationship between the plastic arts and architecture, the toy, the photography photography, the historical evolution of the models… But it is mainly the ancillary activities that are interesting: around each exhibition, there are always conferences, symposiums and more detailed publications on the subject. Finally, given the growing public interest in architecture, the museum organizes guided tours on the subject through the city of Basel. And there's what to do. The architects Michael Alder, Diener and Diener, Herzog and Meuron, in particular, have performed here some buildings and their offices are still located in the city.
