Timetable
On weekdays, bars close between 10pm and midnight. On Friday and Saturday nights, they generally close later, until 4am in Cardiff. Outside the capital, they close a little earlier.
Budget & Tips
In general, the cheapest thing you can buy is a pint of beer.
In Wales, service is not necessarily included in the bill. If it's marked " service not included ", it's customary to leave a 10-15% tip for the waiter. Don't forget it! Otherwise, as in France, the tip you leave depends on your goodwill, bearing in mind that it's not customary to leave a tip in pubs.
Age restrictions
To enter pubs, if you're accompanied, there's generally no age limit. Children are allowed, but of course, no alcohol is allowed. The minimum age is 18, and young adults are often asked to show proof of identity.
What's very local
A pint of local beer, on its own or with a meal.
At the pub, you order your beer at the counter and pay directly. Remember to memorize your table number so that the waiter can spot you.
Kids
Except for a few rare indications to the contrary, they are welcome.
Smokers
Smoking is prohibited inside bars and restaurants.
