All over Scotland great bonfires are lit and fireworks are launched on 5 November or the days before.

Guy Fawkes Night, also known as Bonfire Night, takes place in the UK at the beginning of November. Bonfire Night! This special evening celebrates the failure of the powder conspiracy of 1605: led by Guy Fawkes, it was intended to blow up the Parliament of London and assassinate King James I. Bonfires and fireworks are lit across the UK on November 5, and more widely between November1 and 5. Wherever you are in England, there's bound to be one nearby.
