We all know that holidays are the ideal time to enjoy the simple pleasures of life. Good wine, regional culinary specialities, discovering the landscapes and know-how of each region. To take advantage of these diverse experiences, the Vallée de la Gastronomie-France® takes visitors from Dijon to Marseille via the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, and offers them multi-sensory experiences based on gastronomy, wine and many other activities to be enjoyed by two, with family or friends. Focus on a beautiful tourist project that does not hide its ambitions and has all the assets to become a reference destination at both national and international levels.
What is Gastronomy Valley-France®?
Since last May, the Vallée de la Gastronomie-France® has been welcoming visitors who, from Dijon to Marseille via Lyon, take a gourmet journey along the 620 km that make it up. This tourism project is therefore based around the three regions of Burgundy-Franche-Comté, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and Provence. The objective is to allow travellers to discover the vineyards, restaurants and inns, regional products and these soils that contribute to make these territories shine. It is also a human experience that creates encounters between tourists, craftsmen and local producers during tastings, gourmet moments and workshops aimed at transmitting know-how.
For the public, it is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the specificities of each territory, from green Burgundy to Mediterranean Provence, via the Rhône and the Saône. Dijon mustard, the Côtes du Rhône and Provence, Tricastin truffles and Nyons olives are all elements that make French gastronomy shine throughout the world, and the Vallée de la Gastronomie-France® unveils its know-how and flavours through gourmet offers and remarkable experiences that leave their mark.
A multitude of experiences from north to south
Gastronomy Valley-France® offers two types of services: gourmet offers and remarkable experiences. The gourmet offers represent a large part of the catalogue. They allow you to visit a vineyard or a museum to discover the secrets of wine making and to take part in tastings, but also to stop at the table of a starred chef, to take part in a culinary workshop or even in a gourmet event. For example, the restaurant La Bicyclette Bleue in Pérouges awaits visitors to taste regional specialities such as the duo of carp tartars from the Dombes. Let's also mention the poultry market of Louhans where one likes to stroll for its good products and its authentic character. We can't forget the moments in the most beautiful wine estates with the Château Fessière in Saint-Gilles, which talks about the conception of organic AOP Costières de Nîmes wines before revealing all their aromas.
Remarkable experiences are the other strong point of the Vallée de la Gastronomie-France®, combining the discovery of gastronomy, wines and local products with unusual experiences. For example, they take the curious into the kitchen of starred chef Laurent Peugeot at the restaurant Le Charlemagne in Pernand-Vergelesses to put themselves in the shoes of a chef. In the Ardèche, visitors can experience a moment of caving and oenology as they visit the superb Saint-Marcel-en-Ardèche cave in the company of cavers and winegrowers, who offer a tasting of wines aged inside the cave itself. In Valence, the world's most starred chef Anne-Sophie Pic welcomes gourmets for a dinner at the 3 Michelin-starred gastronomic restaurant, a delicious night in a 5-star Relais & Châteaux hotel and a cooking class.
The website dedicated to the Vallée de la Gastronomie-France® is very complete, intuitive and allows everyone to compose the gastronomic route of their dreams.
