NUS CASTLE
Castle overlooking Nus, near the hamlet of Plane.
The castle overlooking Nus is located near the hamlet of Plane, on a rocky outcrop overlooking the starting point of the Saint-Barthélemy valley. Construction seems to date back to the late 13th century, although the large square tower on the eastern side of the castle, which collapsed in the early 20th century, resembles the towers built in the valley in the 11th and 12th centuries. The final shape of the château, modified several times during the 14th and 15th centuries, is the result of a major restructuring campaign launched around 1595, the date inscribed on the entrance to the courtyard.
