CASTLES AND VILLAGES OF ADVICE
The different castles in the municipal territory of Avise.
Avise, whose medieval village of perched houses is well worth a visit, boasts three castles. The first, in the center of town, is an imposing fortified house with a square tower, the former residence of the Avise noble family. Now a restaurant, its façade is adorned with window styles from different periods, Gothic machicolations and the family motto: Qui tost Avise tard se repent. Château de Blonay, near the church, also has a square tower. Château de Cré, high above the village, is in ruins. They cannot be visited.
