In autumn, along the Bolzano Wine Route, from mazot to mazot, tradition dictates that after the harvest, all those who helped with the harvest are invited to a big party to taste the new Susser wine. In Latin, torquere means "to press", in this case the grapes. And so, from one wine farm to the next, the new wine is tasted, along with seasonal regional specialities: roasted chestnuts, walnuts, krapfen (delicious jam-filled pastries), sausages and home-made charcuterie, including the unmissable speck.
