Florence, the hills of Chianti, Siena, Pisa: discover Tuscany and its fabulous heritage! Let yourself be charmed by the high slopes of the cypress green and the perched villages villages of Siena. True to its reputation, Tuscany delights because it forms a harmonious ensemble from the smallest hamlet to Florence la Magnificent. The culture and history lovers will be filled. But gourmets and lovers will not be left, far from it! The cuisine, generous and delicate, will make you (re) discover the authentic flavours of a rich land. Ceps, truffle, saffron, olive oil… An ancestral gastronomic tradition full of typical dishes, such as the famous bistecca alla Fiorentina, accompanied by a chianti. Happiness! In short, prepare yourself for a delicious sweetness of living and moving landscapes.

Typical dishes

The richness of Tuscany is not limited to architecture. Its cuisine, which abounds in varied flavours, includes pasta, vegetables, fish, cold meats, and the region is renowned for its beef meat. The bistecca alla fiorentina, shavings with olive oil, is a delight. Also in the area of meat, Tuscany offers numerous game recipes, the most famous of which are wild and pheasants. In dessert, you can count on a wide choice of dried cakes, such as the cantuccini or the panforte of Siena. It would, of course, be terribly frustrating not to have wines up to all these good things. Fortunately, the Chianti, the brunello de in Montalcino (red), the etrusco, the San Gimignano white or the muscatel of Alba (Muscat) put you free from such disappointment.

The season of flavours

Many travellers plan their stay in Tuscany in July or August, but it is out of the high season that this region best appreciates. The heatwave, the queues for entering museums and churches, the rates of the hotels are all elements able to curb the visitor's enthusiasm. The Indian summer offers an interesting alternative. The climate is particularly mild so that until the first days of October it is perfectly possible to bathe in the sea. Access to tourist sites is much easier: if Tuscany attracts visitors all year round, there are many more in summer! Another advantage, and not least, is that the "off-season" prices are much more affordable after the summer inflation period. Finally, in addition to ensuring a more serene stay, let us cover forests and Tuscan hills in a resolutely romantic ochre colour at the same time as it opens, for the delight of the greedy, the "season dei sapori": the season of flavours.

Of exceptional harvest

And then we must not forget that autumn is the harvest season and olive oil. The wine, especially from Chianti, Montalcino, Montepulciano or the Maremma, is eagerly awaited and will be tasted on 11 November, for San Martino (the Saint Martin), only days after the start of the Circulation Novello. Of course, many people will not wait until November to enjoy a good glass of wine! The late summer and early fall are refreshed by a series of events dedicated to Bacchus and its unique beverage. It would be impossible to report them all: the sagra del Vino Santo in Montepulciano, the Festa dell'Uva d'Impruneta, or the Capoliveri (Elba Island). These sagre are also the opportunity to experiment with Tuscan cuisine, taste olive oil, as well as numerous local specialities (grilled, pasta, etc.). There are also the itineraries offered by the agritourism throughout Tuscany, which combine wine tasting tasting with the visit of small medieval villages and local curiosities. It is true that the "route du Chianti" is a short distance from Florence, between the small towns of Impruneta, San Casciano in Val di Fsip (where has been Machiavelli), Greve in Chianti (with a forced stop to the butchery Falorni, on Piazza Matteotti, a temple of the most picturesque charcuterie…), Castellina in Chianti, etc. Italian culture! So, plus a minute to lose to finish his suitcases and fly to the Italian peninsula…
