GREAT DUNES COURSE

Famed designer Walter J. Travis put his name to the course when he designed it in 1926. Called upon by the wealthiest families in the area, he created the most beautiful course in existence with money. Set against the island's coastal terrain, Great Dunes alternates difficulty and simplicity, creating a challenging round on the course. Jekill Island quickly became a testing ground for the future of golf. In 1924, new steel clubs were tested as well as ball sizes that are still used today.
