Since its inception in 1897, Del Monte Golf Course has played a prominent role in popularizing the sport in the West. In continuous operation west of the Mississippi, Del Monte Golf Course retains that classic charm, challenging the best golfers with its small, old-fashioned sloping greens. Originally designed as a 9-hole course, it became an 18-hole course in 1902 to attract the best players. Then when the California State Amateur was founded in 1912, Del Monte was the obvious choice. A historic site to enjoy and appreciate.
