Soccer
Here is a Spanish passion, and in Andalusia, especially in the village. For, like the capital derby between Real Madrid and Atlético, the fratricidal duel between Séville FC and Betis is just as disputed. It is undoubtedly the most passionate and hottest in the country. All year round, the city is divided between the Green and White of Betis and the Red and White of Séville FC, two century-old teams and two stadiums only 4 km away. At the office, restaurant or stadium, everyone takes sides. In the early 2000s, this rivalry sometimes broke out and the ultras of both clubs regularly came to the fore. But in 2007, the FC city experienced a tragedy with the accidental death on the ground of 22-year-old defender Antonio Puerta, following a cardiac arrest. A tragedy that finally united the whole city and reduced tensions. Even if the passion remains as strong as ever! The week before the derby is not like any other and the city is only living to the rhythm of the game. “” One day, a city Sé leader accidentally took a green pen and put it back on the table saying”: ” I can't take it, because it's green. It is at this point, “” told AFP Julien Escud” one day, the French defender of Séville FC between 2006 and 2012.
