Timetable
In most cities, especially the more touristy ones, most points of interest are open every day. In some of the less popular areas, the hours are more limited and there may be one or two days of closure during the week. It is best to check in advance.
To be booked
Since the pandemic, more and more points of interest, such as some museums, require advance online booking. This also reduces the waiting time at the ticket office. Another advantage is that most tourist and cultural establishments offer attractive rates on their websites. Otherwise, it is best to book guided tours, day trips and theme park tickets.
Budget & Tips
The general rule is that an adult admission fee is between US$5 and US$25. Almost all sites offer reduced rates for seniors, students and children, as well as free admission for children under 2 or 3 years old. There is a special feature for state parks like the Everglades, where the price is per vehicle, not per person. You will also find places that are free but where a contribution is appreciated.
Main events
Hundreds of events punctuate the year throughout Florida. They are often music, film, food or art festivals. Most offer free entertainment. It's a great way to immerse yourself in the local culture.
Guided tours
Many guided tours are offered, especially in the natural areas to observe the local fauna and flora, including the famous alligators. A good level of English is appreciated to fully understand the information provided by the guides. If you are not very comfortable in the language of Shakespeare, know that two companies offer guided tours of Miami in French.
What's very local
Airboat rides to see alligators are very common in the Everglades, although they can unfortunately disturb the local wildlife. You will find many companies on the roads leading to the different entrances. However, be aware that most of them offer rides outside Everglades National Park. Only three companies are allowed inside the park: Coopertown, Everglades Safari Park and Gator Park.
