THÉÂTRE DU NORD - LILLE
The Théâtre du Nord is a privileged cultural venue, with its repertory plays in Lille, and its contemporary creations in Tourcoing. Housed in the prestigious Grand'Garde Royale building dating from the reign of Louis XV, this theater offers a fine example of the "subsidized public theater" spirit: while it is capable of showing demanding and successful creations (Calderón, Houellebecq...), it also puts on more popular shows, concerts and creations for younger audiences, which it offers to perform in schools and even in the public square to show that theater is made by all and for all. But the Théâtre du Nord is also a pretty bookshop, working in partnership with the no less pretty Lille bookshop Le Bateau Livre, and a café now run by the Peek a Boo team. Le théâtre du Nord? A fine address, both cultural and gourmet!
