WALLS HAVE VOICES - FCB SITE
This application is an original tool for visiting and discovering the history of the Fives-Cail-Babcock factory.
After several months in residence in the heart of the Fives district, the writer Lucien Suel published in 2010 D'Azur and Steel on the history of the district and on its world-renowned factory, the Fives-Cail-Babcock plant, active from 1867 to 1997. Its main achievements include the Eiffel tower elevators, the Alexandre III Bridge, or the first steam locomotives. On more than 17 ha, the plant extended its furnaces, warehouses, rails and bricks and steel buildings. Today, it is a wasteland difficult to visit. Frustrated with this situation and driven by the desire to rehabilitate this factory and its neighborhood, Lucien Suel then has the idea of Application Les Walls have voices. More than just a guided tour, the application is a true literary stroll. Thanks to the installation system, the application recognizes your position and adapts the narrative to your path. You will then be able to wander through the sound of Lucien Suel's voice and the musical arrangements of David Busseron. A breath, a steam jet, a scream of rail, the screams of children in the distance, and extracts from azure and steel… the application plunges you into a new sound atmosphere. A true radio staging, it is intended to be an original tool for valuing the heritage and a vector of memory. At the end of your visit, you can find on the site of the application a large number of archives compiled by the Association Memoirs du travail. Totally free, this application is an exceptional tool to discover a key place in the history of Lille and a rapidly changing neighborhood.
