The Porte de Paris is one of the gates that make up the old city walls. It was built by the architect Simon Vollant, who gave his name to the square where it is located. A masterpiece of military art, it was classified as a historical monument in 1875. It has two different facades to represent the entrance and exit of the city. With a height of 32 m, its massive side pays tribute to the military rigor. On its central part, the coat of arms of Lille, while the baroque figures at the top recall the splendor of the court of Louis XIV.
