CITADELLE DE LILLE
Go there and contact
This impressive citadel has a royal entrance gate with a Latin inscription paying tribute to the Sun King.
Unavoidable visit, the Citadel of Lille already impresses by its size. Originally, it was a small city, with a star-shaped circumvolution of 2 200 meters. Built under the reign of Louis XIV, who has just conquered the city, the construction extends from 1667 to 1670, on the plans of Sebastien Leprestre, Marquis of Vauban. Particularly noteworthy is the royal gate at the entrance with a Latin inscription, a tribute to the glory of the Sun King. Even if nothing beats the real visit, the website allows you to make a virtual visit.
