GRAND'PLACE (PLACE DU GÉNÉRAL-DE-GAULLE)
A must for all the inhabitants of Lille, since the Middle Ages an important market and the Théâtre du Nord have been held here.
The famous Grand'Place, renamed in honour of General de Gaulle on 12 August 1944, is located in the heart of the city between Old Lille and the pedestrian area. It is an essential place for all the inhabitants of Lille to gather. Since the Middle Ages, it has been the site of an important market and part of the old cobblestones can be found in the centre of the square. Also worth seeing, the column of the Goddess, the Flemish façade of the Voix du Nord, the Théâtre du Nord. And of course the Vieille Bourse.

Un des '' must '' de la visite de cette ville flamande
From there, you can go up to the historic district and its shops (Meert pastry and its pits filled for example…), or go walking on the other side to the pedestrian streets and shops to classical standard.
