PALAIS RAMEAU
The Palais Rameau rightly impresses the walkers passing through the Freedom boulevard. It was during a donation to the city of Lille that Charles Rameau asked for a monument to be built on his name. A promise by the city, the palace opened in 1879. Its new Moorish facade is considerable and its powerful portal maintained by two square towers. A place of passion and exposure in the 1960 th century, prison during the Second World War and even the examination room until, this place has reinvented itself over time. Surrounded by a beautiful garden, the majestic glass garden ends up convincing the visitor of the magnificence of the place. This monument has been classified as Historic monument since 2002. Unfortunately, art exhibitions or other events are too rare and do not allow this place to be equal to its prestige. Little anecdote, the tomb of the agronome Lillois Charles Rameau is dressed with a strawberry, a dahlia, a plane of potatoes, a rose and a vine upon request. In short, a magical palace filled with stories! Counsel: Take advantage of the next exhibition to discover it from inside!
