At the beginning of Pontgouin (see Ideally de Boizard), the country chartrain is crossed by the canal Louis XIV, supposed to bring water to the château de Versailles and ordered in Vauban. Eight sites still exist in seven other communes - Fontaine-la-Guyon, Bailleau-the Bishop, Chartainvilliers or Maintenon - where it is possible to see arches, part of the aqueduct or terraces passing through the road from Chartainvilliers to Boisricheux.
