THE CHURCH OF SAINT-PIERRE
The church Saint Peter founded between the xiiith and the xvith century traces the history of Dreux with its numerous Reconstructions. Indeed, built at the beginning of the th century, it was then renovated at the fifteenth century after the damage caused by several invasions of the city. In the sixteenth century, a North tower was added to this church, with the South tower still mysteriously unfinished. The ultimate addition dates from the xviith with the construction of the southern arm of the transept. Its architecture recalls the flamboyant Gothic style, in the image of the cathedral of Chartres. If you have the opportunity to return to this sumptuous church you can admire the th and th century windows. And by getting closer to the choir, you will have the surprise of finding yourself faced with a gigantic organ that leaves its most beautiful notes at office time. But don't stop there. Go back and admire above the portal the th century flower. You can then continue your visit through the transepts, the nave, in front of the chapels, or in front of the crucifix. This building has been classified as Historical Monuments since 1840.
