QUARTIER DE L'ÉGLISE SAINT-PIERRE-SAINT-PAUL
Monumental church blending several architectural styles: Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance.
Monumental church - with towers and buttresses - timber-framed houses, small streets, remains of the Tower... the village of Gallardon is surprising. The church of Saint Peter and Saint Paul first dates from the 11th century. It mixes several architectural styles - Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance. A little further on, the site called "l'épaule de Gallardon" (Gallardon's shoulder) is a semi-circular tower pierced by a window, which rises in the middle of the houses. Dating from the 12th century, the original building must have been a sort of guardroom for the troops of the local lord. Finally, the walk can continue through the streets of the centre with their old houses and cobblestones.
