Maison Gauthier & Cie manufactures high quality French custom-made rods, blinds and mechanisms. Its expertise and excellence have earned it the distinction of a Living Heritage Company.
History. In the heart of the Faubourg Saint-Antoine, rue de Charonne in Paris, Georges Gauthier founded his house of "decorative ornaments and apartment hardware" in 1888, which became Gauthier Frères then Gauthier & Cie. For a century, four generations of Gauthier succeeded one another and developed the company and its unique collection of more than 1,000 "model fathers" of ornaments and accessories from Louis XIV to Art Deco style.
Maison Gauthier & Compagnie left the family business in 1990. The company is losing ground and is now almost exclusively focused on trading.
In 2002, Bernard Gauthier took over the reins and gave Gauthier & Cie back its former glory: he favoured homemade manufacturing and introduced technology through sophisticated and motorized mechanisms into the very classic world of the rod and blind mechanism.
In 2015, Aurore Lebon-Desroche took over the management of the company.
The products. Classic or stylized rods but also decorative motorized rods, and boat blinds, reels and venetian blinds.
