Winter is an ideal time for birdwatching. It's even easier from an unassuming varnished wooden shed, set amidst the woods, with a dozen small windows cut into one of the observatory's walls. A few meters away, four feeders are set up, some on tree trunks and one on a stake, so close that you feel you can touch the passerines pecking at them. Don't forget your binoculars to watch buzzards, hawks, woodpeckers, buntings, thrushes, lapwings, greenfinches, cuckoos...
