ROYAL AND MILITARY COLLEGE OF THIRON-GARDAIS
Originally an abbey founded in 1114 by the ermite Bernard de Ponthieu, the Royal and Military College of Thiron-Gardais began in 1630. Attracting students from the Perche, Beauce, and even Paris, this college taught science as well as beautiful letters, and also fencing and botany. The College had to wait 1776 for the College to become a royal military officer with a view to training the cadets of the Royal Military School in Paris. In 2014, Stéphane Bern, a journalist-animator and first in love with French heritage, decided to buy the estate in order to give him a new youth. After years of hard work, the College reopened on June 28, 2017. Imagined by Stéphane Bern himself, the museum is dedicated to the history of the college and to the creation of the royal and military colleges established under Louis XIV. There are many objects in relation to military history as uniforms, but also to classrooms where cadets and graffiti were studied. The garden's soul was also preserved thanks to the remarkable work of landscaper Louis Benech who used the original plans while revitalizing them.
