CHERET'S CAREER
A site with a cool, damp climate, home to some 15 bird species, 39 butterfly species and 160 plant species.
Ambrault stone was extracted from the Chéret quarry until 1920. Since then, a varied flora has developed. Orchids, marjoram... At the bottom of the quarry is a cool, damp climate where several species of fern flourish, including the Langue de Cerf. In all, some 160 different plant species have been recorded, along with 39 species of butterfly and some 15 birds, including the barn owl. Nature walks are organized throughout the year (see online calendar).
